I think I can work up a response to you that fills up a whole blog, since that sort of stuff really interests me. Clark Associates' donations to Kate Murray's campaign evokes thoughts of "Pay to Play" ... I can't be anymore blunt than that ... It would be totally naieve to think otherwise.

Why give back only $1k in donations because you "might" use a company for the zoning consultation??? You are using them for the EIS consultation... WTH is the difference?!?!?!

Good work Nick ... and kudos to John "HyeDray" ... great detective work.19 Isle in NJ 22noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6420070021149211641.post-48090302278778801762009-05-02T21:31:00.000-04:002009-05-02T21:31:00.000-04:00Nick ... as always ... Excellent work!!!
I find m...Nick ... as always ... Excellent work!!!

I find myself more and more strongly wondering ... When is government going to begin working for the people again? Instead it
s been the other way around. This country was founded on the principles of small government, no government interference and pure liberty.

Instead we have politicians on both sides of the aisle fighting only for political power .. and what they perceive is the best way to obtain / keep it. That power is given to them by voters ... but instead of working for us voters ... the seem more interested in how to best manipulate that vote... they see voters as a resource that fuels their power ... they no longer see us as their boss.

I think that can only stop when people can wake up and shun both the Democratic and Republican parties ... both parties use voters as pawns in their bigger picture. IMO neither one is working for the Light House Project in this case ... they've used voters as political pawns and have drawn a line in the sand.

I bet you dollars to donuts that if Wang slashed the amount of affordable housing ... Tom Suozzi would crap a brick house ... because that goes agains HIS plan... to bring more voters more likely to vote Democrat to that district ... and less cheer leaders to bow before his alter...

On the other hand you have Kate Murray playing the same game but in reverse ... although she may have legitimate concerns about traffic, solid waste and water supply ... those are issues that can be solved ... her hidden gripe is probably the amount of "affordable" housing in her district that will most like house citizens less likely to vote Republican.

This is where the two party system fails us and becomes a road block to progress ... I never believed in it ... as our fore fathers chose parties as a necessary evil that was intended to organize political platforms and arrange some sort of order ... being outside of my expertise ... I believe that since our fore fathers used a Parlimentary Order proceedure to conduct the business of government ... they developed party systems to reflect who controls the agenda for the business of government.

We sometimes forget that our fore fathers wanted small government ... we never would know it by today's standards. That is why Congress was in session for only periods of the year ... to meet and vote on issues ... and adjourn and the members would go back to doing what they do ... farm, carpentry ... law ... doctor ... invent ... etc.

The executive branch was the full time government ... BUT .. operated within the powers given by congress ... I don't know why I strayed with this Nick ... It's just that I get frustrated because I see what is going on in the Town of Hempstead as just another example of goverment gone wrong ... and it's not just TOH ... it's our counties, states and federal government ... we've slowly grown accostomed to given government more and more control.19 Isle in NJ 22noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6420070021149211641.post-6892938718339818052009-05-02T16:43:00.000-04:002009-05-02T16:43:00.000-04:00Nick, I'm a little mystified at some of the consul...Nick, I'm a little mystified at some of the consultant's criticisms of the DGEIS. I've read through some of that document. Water and traffic (including intersection by intersection reviews) were definitely included. Projections of public school enrollments (i.e. school-aged children living at LH), including the costs associated with theses new students, are also in there. Also very detailed study on economic impacts of the LH. Finally, they also address solid waste (garbage) management, including an estimate of the monthly waste that will be generated by the LH, as well as identifying the waste management facility that would handle the stuff.

Would be interesting to see the details behind the objections that FPC raised.BRnoreply@blogger.com
