Remember, this time 4 months ago it looked like this thing was dead in the water because the principals couldn't play nice with each other. Bottom line is this: there were a lot of politicians there, and politicians are heat-seeking missiles. They would not have come if they did not believe they were on the right side of history and, more importantly, their voters.

I prefer to take a more optimistic approach, but similar to what you suggested. We have momentum clearly on our side, and that means we need to capitalize on it. We need to make sure many people write comments in support of the Lighthouse, and we have to ensure a huge turnout among supporters at all the hearings. This is the best thing we can do, rather than waiting for the other shoe to drop.

In terms of process, the tipping point would come if the Town approves re-zoning for the site. Nothing substantial would stand in their way if re-zoning is approved...However, as I keep saying, our work is not over until ground-breaking, and we need to keep up the positive pressure and remind our elected officials that we, the people, want this.Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11753698648862261183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6420070021149211641.post-51007032488848936742009-07-27T23:07:11.380-04:002009-07-27T23:07:11.380-04:00nick, im sure you read patterson's press relea...nick, im sure you read patterson's press release and noticed all the politicians/special interests lined up in favor of the project. where is this supposed opposition?? should we be holding our breathe waiting for the other shoe to drop or is this actually looking like a slam dunk? would love to hear your thoughts on this.Eye on the Islandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14599219024637718722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6420070021149211641.post-84226363496285887132009-07-27T15:43:25.782-04:002009-07-27T15:43:25.782-04:00Interesting....In my conversations with the Town I...Interesting....In my conversations with the Town I have never heard them say anything about that, and in fact they said they would schedule a night hearing if they thought it was required. I will definitely follow up, but since the Town made the decision to have the hearing in the morning I hope that would prevent such a delay.Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11753698648862261183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6420070021149211641.post-52814598926055246652009-07-27T15:08:49.412-04:002009-07-27T15:08:49.412-04:00Nick:

In fact some projects have been delayed (minimally) when the town has not scheduled one.

I would like to see one scheduled this time before the 8-17 end of the "public response period" because if objections come after 8-17, in the past the town has stopped the process and scheduled a night hearing. The last time they did this the period for public comment was extended about 30 days.isles7mannoreply@blogger.com
